Research Interests

My research interests fall into a number if different areas:

  • Corporate geography - at the moment I am working on US venture capital investment patterns. In addition, I am working on the structure of interlocking directorates in North America. Other long standing interests are mergers, acquisitions, foreign direct investment and venture capital.
  • Resources - I am currently a co-investigator in looking at wetland management in Southern Ontario. My contribution is primarily on the quantitative analysis side of the research. I have also collaborated in a small way on an analysis of sugar production in Australia.
  • Energy - I occasionally get involved in oil, gas and electrical distribution systems simulations for the former Soviet Union. I am also working on energy price modeling
  • The Canadian North - In the past I have worked on the Norman Wells Pipeline Project socio-economic evaluation, as well as retailing in the North.
  • Rural Studies - I have done and plan to do some more work on rural commuting.
